When I became a mom myself, I truly realized the depth of everything my own mom had done for me growing up. It also made me want to apologize for everything I put her through! In reflection, not only was she doing the very best she could, she succeeded at being a truly incredible mom! Being a mom is a challenge, a journey and an incredible gift. Every day, I get to see my boys grow, develop their own distinct personalities and see the world through fresh eyes. They are—and will always be—my number one priority, my greatest joy and my biggest achievement.
With Mother’s Day around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate all the amazing mothers out there. Being a mom is forever, from those first few moments when you see your baby for the first time, to the weeks and months of sleepless nights and years of mentoring that follow. One thing’s for sure: it’s. not. easy. It’s been called the toughest job in the world, and I wouldn’t disagree. Motherhood takes you on a journey you can’t ever prepare for, filled with every emotion imaginable. There will always be moments when you feel like you’re failing, not doing enough or falling short of the seemingly perfect parents you see around you. Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret: no parent is perfect. In fact, it’s in making mistakes that we learn who we really are and who we want to be. And it’s in being honest and open about our mistakes that our children see who we truly are: human beings who are simply trying their very best.
Motherhood also makes you realize the true importance of taking care of yourself, so you can be in the best state—mentally and physically—to be completely present for, and invested in, your children. You can only guide your kids towards health and happiness if you truly inhabit that state yourself, and so to all the moms making that journey and trying their very best, I’m right there with you.
Happy Mother’s Day,
