As I look forward to a new year, I like to take the time to reflect on what the past twelve months have taught me. This past year has been a pivotal one for me because it marked a period of change and uncertainty, but it’s been one of the best years of my life.
Holidays and health don’t normally go together—that’s for after the first of the year, right?! Although I do indulge in November and December, I still believe in maintaining some sort of order amongst the seasonal madness!
During the holidays, I get really excited about sparkles (yes, it’s the little things). Every season I will break out my sequin dresses, jumpsuits and high-shine accessories to set the festive tone.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner—I am already mentally and physically prepping for the big day! This holiday means so much to me because it’s all about family. As a child, my parents would put a lot of thought and love into this day. Now that I am host, I make sure to do the same.
Even though I live in LA, I love to play up the fall/winter season by experimenting with the layered look. I try to plan escapes during the winter to Aspen, Europe or Vermont, so I can break out my cozy, cold-weather layers.
Apart from the glitz and glamour of the holidays, my favorite aspect of the season is giving to others. It’s such a highlight of my year that I start the gift collecting process the day after Christmas ends! I am always on the lookout for special finds that remind me of loved ones.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year and it has been since I was a little kid! I love to play hostess by throwing my annual extravaganza, dress up in creative costumes, decorate the house with fall colors, cook up tasty treats and craft costumes with my kids—I just can’t get enough!
