By now, most people know fad diets don’t work, but let’s be real, if you are trying to lose weight it can sometimes be hard to resist trying the diet that your co-worker or family member keeps buzzing about. They have already lost 10 pounds and singing the glory of the “Lose Your Muffin Top Diet.” Wisdom tells you that eating only muffins and bacon can’t be good, BUT she just lost 10 POUNDS! Take a deep breath and think about your goals. If you want to lose weight, I’m sure you want to keep it off.  If you want more energy, you want to stay energetic. And if you want to be fitter, you want to stay fit.

Here are five things to remember about fad diets to keep you on track:

  1. Fad diets are just that, a fad.
  2. Fad diets are easy to start and difficult to maintain.
  3. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.
  4. Fad diets are designed so you lose major weight initially, then you gain it back
  5. No one really wants to diet, anyway.

Fads are like buses, always coming and going. You can change your hair, your clothes, and your makeup, but until you change your habits, nothing else will. You don’t want to live your life jumping from one diet to the next. You don’t want to walk around like a hungry, lethargic zombie because you are not getting enough nutrients from your latest diet. These diets are doing more harm than good in the long run. The heart of the matter is you are seeking a change and trying a fad diet is an act of desperation. Trust yourself and know that the only way to truly see a difference is to change your lifestyle. Your lifestyle is the way you eat, live, move, and make choices. Your lifestyle is not just for a set period of time. It is how you live your life on a continuous and daily basis. The next time you are considering trying a fad diet, I challenge you to choose to create a new lifestyle built on healhty food that is nutrient rich and includes fats, protein AND carbohydrates. I challenge you to create a new lifestyle where you are active and make decisions from love and not fear. The choice is yours.

I agree with you, fad diets are very hard to keep. Maybe you have to try the Paleo Cooking style, I lost more than 25 pounds just eating natural and healthy food, I got a wonderful Paleo recipes book at: http://bit.ly/Paleo_Diets
