[tps_header]A habit is something we repeatedly do daily, not just once in a while. There are bad habits and good habits. It’s important to focus on changing something a little at a time. Once you feel victorious, then add another habit to change. When thinking about habits, it helps when you focus on what you WANT to do instead of focusing on what you DON’T WANT to do. For instance, instead of saying, “I will quit drinking soda cold turkey,” say, “I will choose to drink more water and have a goal of drinking ____oz per day.” [/tps_header]
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Here are some ideas on what to focus on for the next thirty days.
#1. Gratitude- Start each day with at least five things you are grateful for every morning before you get out of bed.
#2. Make your bed- I know this seems elementary, but this small accomplishment can help bring serious success into your daily life. You’ll feel good every time you walk in your room – trust me!
#3. Smile- The act of smiling is a habit. In a world of smart phones and technology, a warm smile goes a long way.
#4. Drink more water! Drink at least half of your body weight in ounces. If that’s too much, set a goal and then increase it little by little. Add lemon, lime, mint, berries, and/or cucumbers to add a little flavor – it’s a great way to detox, too.
#5. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Make a decision to add live greens to every meal. The more sugar you eat, the more sugar you will crave. The more greens you eat, the more greens you will crave.
