HEAVY (OR NOT SO HEAVY) LIFTING
To achieve a “toned” physique, strength training changes the shape of your muscles while decreasing the amount of stored fat, giving you the ability to see the changes in your body. Heavy lifting damages the muscle fibers, which, in turn, rebuild during recovery to promote muscle growth. Lighting weights with high reps does not challenge muscle fibers enough to force the rebuild and growth process to really change your shape. And no, you will not look like a bodybuilder by lifting heavy!
