#FitFor2: Prenatal Super Smoothie

Eating for two means… you get to eat a whole pie (I wish!). Contrary to what you may have heard, you should only be eating about 200 extra calories a day. While I have cravings like every other pregnant woman, I try to choose wisely and only shop for healthy foods so that I’m not tempted.

One of my favorite go-to snacks is my prenatal super smoothie. It’s especially refreshing in the warmer months and all of the ingredients are good for you, and your baby too. The greens promote healthy cell production and the banana has Vitamin B6, which is known to help the development of the central nervous system. Coconut water is a must, with all of its nutritional qualities and sweet taste. It increases electrolytes, helps with cramping and gives you a much-needed energy boost.

Here’s what you’ll need:
– Ice – 1 cup
– Kale – handful
– Fresh Spinach – handful
– Coconut Water – 12 oz.
– Chia seeds (soak overnight for easier digestion and an immediate release of nutrients)
– Banana – 1 small
– Blueberries – 1/2 cup

Add all the ingredients to the blender and mix thoroughly. Enjoy!

I’d love some kind of notation by or specific section on the website of items that work well in late stage pregnancy…As a Pilates studio owner, 8 mos pregnant, I’m really struggling to get dressed in the morning and need some pieces to help me get through the last few weeks!
