We all know that working out and getting our heart rates up on a regular basis is important, but what about after the workout? A really intense gym session can leave you with sore, aching muscles that can discourage you from working out again.
One of my favorite ways to recover post-workout is to soak in a hot bath with Epsom salts. Not only will it soothe your aches and pains, but it will provide you with a great opportunity to relax and unwind. If you have the time and means, you can also find a place that allows you to transfer between a hot Jacuzzi and cold dipping water – the differing temperatures are so good for soothing your muscles and organs. Finally, there’s nothing like a massage as a follow up to an especially hard workout. Not only is it a great reward and motivator, but bodywork is always helpful in relaxing the muscles.
