Over the years, London has become much like a second home to me. London is truly one of my favorite cities, and not only does it have an incredible sense of history, but it’s also host to an endless assortment of delicious restaurants and sights to see. While London is beautiful year-round, I especially love being there in the fall to enjoy the changing leaves and crisp weather. If you have the good fortune of visiting the city, here are some spots that I recommend checking out:
NOPI RESTAURANT, 21-22 Warwick St. London, W1B 5NE, TEL +44-20-7494-9584
Nopi is Chef Yoram Ottolenghi’s restaurant located in the heart of bustling Soho. His cookbooks Plenty, Jerusalem, and Ottolenghi have all been New York Times bestsellers. The focus is on flavorful, vegetable dishes that emphasize exotic spices and fresh ingredients. Healthful and delicious!
OSKAR’S BAR at DABBOUS, 39 Whitfield Street, London WIT 2SF, TEL :+44 20 7323 1544
Located downstairs from the famous, Michelin-starred restaurant – Dabbous – this cozy bar is run by the award-winning mixologist Oskar Kinberg. Expertly crafted cocktails and gourmet bar snacks make for a fun evening.
CLARIDGE’S AFTERNOON TEA, Brook St,, Mayfair, London W1K 4HR, TEL +44 20 7629 8860
Splurging on afternoon tea at Claridge’s is the utimate British experience! Wafer-thin sandwiches, freshly baked scones with Marco Polo jelly and the most heavenly Cornish clotted cream served with traditional and unique teas (of course!) from around the world, or with coffee and infusions.
PATTY + BUN 54, James Street, Marylebone, London W1U 1HE, TEL: +44 20 7487 3188
As an American, it’s hard for me to admit that one of the best burgers I’ve ever had was in London! Be prepared to stand in line at Joe Grossman’s casual burger joint in Marylebone for The Smokey Robinson Burger (caramelized onions and bacon!) with rosemary fries. If the line is too long in Marylebone, there’s another location on Liverpool Street.
DAUNT BOOKS, 83 Marylebone High Street, London W1U 4QW TEL: +4420 7224 2295
The Edwardian architecture of Daunt Books provides the perfect setting for one of London’s most treasured, independent bookshops. The owners, both welcoming and knowledgeable, clearly love all books, but especially the travel kind. Bookshop heaven.
PRINCESS OF WALES MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND, Broad Walk, London, TEL +44 300 061 2001
A huge wooden pirate ship is the amazing centerpiece of this park, a children’s wonderland opened in 2000 in memory of the late Princess of Wales. Located next to Princess Di’s Kensington Palace home, the playground is a wonderful tribute to a woman who loved childhood and children.
