Summer is upon us and nothing is more refreshing than a nice cold fruit, veggie, or herb-infused water. In this post, I’ve included three of my faves so you can shake up your hydration routine this summer. Remember, as the weather gets warmer hydration is that much more important. We’ve all heard that eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day is the recommendation, and of course, as active individuals, we should all be drinking additional water before, during, and after being active. These infused water recipes are super simple and super refreshing- try one today and be sure to share it with a friend!
Melon Water
Ingredients:
4 cups 1/2 inch cubed watermelon
2 quarts water
Directions:
Add watermelon and water to a pitcher with ice. Let the water sit for a few hours for the flavor to infuse and serve cold. For added flavor, add a few sprigs of fresh mint leaves to the water, or try making with seltzer water for fizzy infused water.
Herbal Water
Ingredients:
1 cucumber, sliced thinly
1 cup blueberries
Handful fresh basil leaves
2 quarts water
Directions:
Add cucumber, blueberries, and basil to a pitcher with water and ice. Let sit for a few hours for flavors to infuse. Serve cold.
Citrus Water
Ingredients:
1 grapefruit, sliced
1 orange, sliced
1 lime, sliced
2 quarts water
Directions:
Add grapefruit, orange, and lime to pitcher with water and ice. Let fruit infuse for several hours. Serve cold. Try this recipe with seltzer water, too, for some fizzy flavor!
