It’s Time to Paws & Celebrate National Dog Day!

by

Happy National Dog day to all our furry friends out there.  Although most dog lovers would agree, every day is canine appreciation day, it’s nice to carve out a box on the calendar just for them.  Besides the unfiltered happiness and love that they bring, there are so many benefits that come with spending time with a (wo)man’s best friend.

TRAINING BUDDY:
Take your workout beyond the sidewalk by trying new routines with your dog.  Go on a hike and discover a new trail.  Your dog will enjoy the outdoors, the new sights and smells, and you will get your heart rate up at the same time.

Or how about Doga?  Yep, according to Google, it’s a thing.  And it’s not a coincidence that one of the practice’s primary poses is named Downward Facing Dog.  Since Yoga is about connecting with yourself and others, focus this time to foster your relationship with your pooch.  We all know dogs are inherently connected to our emotions, so this should come naturally.  Discover new positions, and let them take the place as a prop to your own poses!

SO LONG, STRESS:
Therapy dogs are a major force in helping people overcome PTSD, illness, and more commonly, stress.  We may equate these warm, fuzzy feelings with cuddles and licks, but it actually comes down to hard science.  Playing with your pooch releases a feel-good hormone called oxytocin and decreases stress-inducing cortisol levels.  Your pup can also pull at your heart strings (quite literally) by lowering your blood pressure significantly.

PARTNER IN CRIME:
Netflix and chill has never been better.  If your energy is waning, or if you want to log in some good quality hours with your hound, staying home and having fun is not just a dog’s life, it can be yours too.  Find a fun movie (avoid: Marly & Me), lay out some treats (popcorn for you, Pupperoni for him/her) and sprawl out on the couch for a cozy and cuddly night in.

At Fabletics, we love our dogs, and we have a feeling you do too! Tell us your favorite bonding activity in the comments below for a chance to win a FREE Fabletics outfit!

*Ends September 9th, 2016. Winner will be chosen by September 16th, 2016.

Me and my girl Bit love to go for walks around the town we live in. She likes to go for a run with me too but she is always wore out afterwards! The picture attached was after a nice 4 mile walk, it shows my two favorite workout accessories!

Suzy is helping me with my downward dog…what a cutie. She is a handful at times, but she also brings such joy and innocence back into my life. Now, if I could just be content with a squeaky tennis ball, then life would be so much easier. I love how dogs remind us all it is the littlw things that cost so little if anything that really matters. #Fabletics. #NatonalDogsDay

I love when Zizou cozies up to me while I’m stretching post run. I think he loves that I’m on the floor at his level! Such a nice way to unwind after hitting the pavement! U0001f436U0001f60d

I walk my dog every evening for a little over an hour. He loves it and there is a horse farm at the top of the hill and they always come over to the fence to see their furry friend (carrots don’t hurt either 😉 )

Shadow and Max are very lucky dogs that live a walk away from redwoods and a short drive to the beach or river and an hour away … Snow in the winter, that it shadows favorite! Needless to say there is always some fun outdoor daily activity. Keeping fit and styling in my fabletics.

My FAVORITE K9 bonding activity is walking out in nature with my dogs, which for us is all around our rurally placed home. They LOVE strolling along with my daughter Maddie, her Papa, and I. Stirling (left),and Bella (right), are some HAPPY pups! They even (paw)sed to help Maddie celebrate her 11 month birthday! U0001f497U0001f382U0001f429
