We’re excited to continue our partnership with the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign—an initiative that encourages girls to stand up for, support and empower other girls across the world, helping the hardest-to-reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl by changing policies and raising funds to improve their lives.
Started solely as an American-based program, this compelling movement caught the attention of over half a million supporters and advocates from around the globe. Those involved in the program have dedicated time and money to ensure that some of the world’s most marginalized adolescent girls are educated, healthy, safe and positioned to be leaders in their communities. Resonating perfectly with our brand mission and message to empower all women and encourage them to live their best lives, Girl Up and Fabletics can help lay the foundation for stronger future generations.
To further our partnership with Girl Up, a portion of the #GirlAlmighty collection will benefit Girl Up’s SchoolCycle initiative, which provides bikes to girls in developing countries so they can get to school and continue their education. We cannot wait to continue to support such an inspirational cause.
To reach our global goals, we work with Girl Upon a local level in locations around the world, starting right here at Fabletics HQ! We recently hosted Southern California Girl Up Ambassadors for an inspiring day of empowerment and leadership building, which was more successful than we could have ever imagined.
For starters, the girls were given unprecedented access to the work that goes on behind the seams at Fabletics by meeting staffers and seeing how our designs go from first sketch to finished product (which meant plenty of time in our design room and photo studio)! They were also given an exclusive preview of the new #GirlAlmightly collection and even met Fabletics Co-Founder—and passionate female empowerment advocate—Kate Hudson.
They then joined a special leadership panel hosted by Kate and female executives from our Design, Creative, Product, Merchandising and Social Media teams as they discussed empowerment in the workplace and their experience as leaders. Following the panel, there was a Q&A session where the girls had the opportunity to ask about life at Fabletics, dealing with career challenges and how social media is changing the landscape of journalism. The girls also enjoyed smaller breakout sessions with staffers, exposing them to all the interlinked departments with a female-centric e-commerce brand.
Unsurprisingly, we were beyond impressed with the girls’ enthusiasm, confidence and insightful communication skills. Their energy and passion were truly contagious, and as much as we hoped to inspire them, we left feeling equally inspired! Even after spending a short period of time together, we were left in no doubt that our next generation of female leaders has the intelligence, passion and positivity to change the world for other girls through their participation with Girl Up!
